How to treat impetigo

impetigoImpetigo is a chronic skin disease often affects children, it is especially dangerous in numerous groups of children. It is called scabs, earlier it appeared from the soldiers who are unable to follow the personal hygiene and avoid the contact with dirty water. Sometimes, this disease affects men in skin damage during shaving.

Causes of impetigo

Pustular skin lesion, ie impetigo, is caused by streptococcus (most often — a beta-hemolytic streptococcus), staphylococcal infections (80% — Staphylococcus aureus) or mixed agents of both types.

They penetrate through small wounds in any place if the skin is damaged, or through hair follicles. The pathogenic organism starts to multiply rapidly and pustules appeared on the skin in the form of rashes.

The biggest danger is that if there are complications of impetigo. They are expressed in a latent or apparent violations of the internal organs — liver, kidney, stomach and so on. Therefore, you should consult a doctor for diagnosis at the slightest sign of itching, unexplained rash.

Impetigo can signal about other diseases, as their satellite. This is dermatitis, dermatosis, and so on. The disease can progress with weakened immunity and disturbed hygieneconditions during the wars, epidemics, bad weather conditions, chronic malnutrition.

Symptoms of of impetigo

Streptococcal impetigo is characterized by a rash of red spots with tubercles on the skin. They hurt, and then turn into bubbles to half a centimeter in circumference, filled with a transparent yellowish liquid. Then the pain subsides, the bubbles burst, in their place are formed purulent crusts. They disappear after 57 days (almost 2 months).

Eruptions occur by groups or absent-mindedly on the shins, knees, face, hands, at least — in other areas. Impetigo bullosa is a type of streptococcal skin lesions. To diagnose it, you should immediately consult a dermatologist.

The staphylococcal impetigo called folliculitisis because its principal place of concentration — the mouth of the sebaceous hair follicles. The abscesses are seen in these follicles are called pustules. Their size can reach the size of a pea. The folliculitis has two forms: deep and superficial.

Nodular lesions of the red color are sore during the deep form, their value reaches 5 mm, the abscess can be viewed in the center. After 5-7 days, the nodule becomes more flat, opens and gradually heals. On its place almost always leaves a small scar.

The surface form of impetigo may be distinguished by a small, up to 2 mm, pustules from which the hair grows. Stains are surrounded by a narrow strip on the edges. On the 4th day they are opened, dry up, it does not remain scars after the healing.

Impetigo vulgaris is a mixed form of the defeat of streptococcal and staphylococcal infections. Bubbles are filled with purulent fluid in this case , and crusts are quite thick. Affected areas — face, hands and feet — rarely. Lymph nodes are painful and swollen.

During this type of the desease, there are a lot of lesions, that spread rapidly. After removing the crusts the skin surface is moist, and the erosion is well visible. The danger is that the patient can increase the area of the rash by touching hands to the face and transferring the infection through the underwear.
