MRI stands formagnetic resonance imaging. It is a modern high-precision method of diagnosis. With it, examine the state of the soft tissue: internal organs, blood vessels, brain states, joints, spine, even the eyes. For this purpose, nuclear magnetic resonance method is used.
What is MRI and how does it work
At hydrogen atoms affects the constant electromagnetic field with high voltage. Tissues are saturated with hydrogen, showing their magnetic properties. The doctor sees this effect in the form of clear picture on the scanner monitor. So it is possible to detect the early stages of tissue pathology, disorders of the organs and systems, tumors, any negative changes.
This method detects changes in the soft tissues that are inaccessible to other technologies: ultrasound, CT, X-ray diffraction. When choosing apparatus for research, pay attention not only to its power or how much it cost to get the MRI scan, but also on the professionalism of doctors-radiologists. It is no less important component for obtaining the accurate data, than the characteristics of the device. We have the experienced team that based their work on modern European technologies and rich practical experience.
Precise diagnostics at both types of tomographs
Our clinic has its own collection of powerful diagnostic equipment. You do not have to choose a facility with MRI closed or open type. We have both the latest generation of apparatus:
- Closed superconducting MRI scanner EXCELART Vantage, the Japanese production of Toshiba Medical System Corp – 1,5 Tesla
- Open MRI scanner with a permanent magnet APERTO production Hitachi Medical Corp – 0,4 Tesla, with a vertical magnetic field
This is a unique equipment, precision results of which make it possible to obtain images that are not available to other scanners. Each of our machine uses a special technique – diffusion-weighted (DW) imaging. It allows you to get the exact image without using an MRI with contrast..
The MRI scan on our equipment is indispensable for the diagnosis of tumors at an early stage, when they are the most difficult to detect. And also assessing the effectiveness of the conducted anticancer therapy, the volume of tissue that is necrotic. By means of our scanners the area of the tumor can be quickly identified, that is suitable for the biopsy the most.
Why use an MRI?
RI is used in different branches of medicine: oncology, urology, gynecology, cardiology and so on. The method is unique by the high accuracy of the diagnosis, study the smallest local areas, it is performed without invasive intervention and special training.
The highly accurate, to hundredths of a millimeter, slices of soft tissue or other parts of the plane are received through the MRI in Kiev. The monitor displays a 3D image, which clearly shows the condition of the joint, blood vessels or internal organs. Details are displayed with an accuracy of 95%. Similar results today are not surpassed using any medical procedure. In our clinic radiologists conduct these types of MRI.
MRI of the brain, MRI of the head: tumors exception, the determination of their size and structure, infectious tissue damage, injuries diagnosis and bleeding after accidents and injuries, the differentiation of tumors, definition of quality of the therapy, MRI of the brain vessels in terms of their status, diseases and more.
MRI of the spine:the doctor may prescribe a separate MRI of the cervical spine or MRI of the lumbosacral, depending on the evidence and your problem. The technique is indicated for spinal injuries, damage, determining the presence and size of hernias and protrusions, evaluating post-traumatic deformations, degree of hemorrhage in the spinal cord, inflammation, including epidurita and spondylitis, tumors, spinal stroke, degenerative changes in the vertebrae and so on.
Abdominal MRI: here include studies of internal organs in the abdominal cavity. Namely:
- MRI of the gallbladder and biliary tract in order to detect kidney stones, assessing the state of the hepatic ducts, detection of tumors, etc .;
- examination of the kidneys and urinary tract, in particular, identifying the causes of hematuria and anuria, pyelonephritis and other inflammatory diseases;
- gastric examination to identify tumors, lymph node status, degrees of prevalence of the oncological tumors, etc.
- liver examination, the pancreas and spleen (parenchymal organs);
We provide highly accurate MRI of the vessels and lymph nodes of the abdominal cavity, lungs MRI (the most difficult diagnosed organ). This allows to timely detect lymphoma, aneurysm, detect inflammation and determine the extent of the spread of metastases.
MRI of the pelvic organs these include pelvic organs of men and women. The special diagnostic package is developed for each patient.
Examination of the male sex organs include: MRI of the testicles and scrotum, penis, prostate, seminal ducts.
Examination of female genital mutilation include: MRI of uterine, bladder, vagina, ovaries and fallopian tubes, rectum, surrounding soft tissues.
Diagnostics can detect inflammatory and infectious processes, to see the changes in the structure of the anomalies of the genitourinary system, to explore the lymph nodes and vessels of the pelvis.
MRI of the joints: allows you to explore the state of the joints and tendons (their stretches, breaks, incarcerations). This is urgently needed after the injury, overload, falls, degenerative diseases of the joints, fractures, chronic arthritis, tumors and persistent pain syndrome. Most often patients come to us to carry out an MRI of the knee joint.
How to perform the procedure
During the MRI procedure, the patient must remain immobile. The session time – from 15 to 30 minutes, and during the study of several areas – 1.5 hours. Due to the loud sound of the apparatus, the doctor suggests the headphones. And in order to avoid any negative aspects on the closed tomograph, a rubber bulb will be given to to the patient. It has to be squeezed in any discomfort and the procedure will be interrupted. Before the MRI scan, you need to remove all metal objects and change into disposable clothing. Another special preparation is not required.
If you are still deciding where to make MRI, take into account : our clinic does not make patients wait for the result of imaging. Only here in the online mode, you can get a comprehensive consultation of the highly specialized medics (7 experienced doctors). This reduces the standby mode, on which other clinics spend hours to give a description. Here you will learn the diagnosis immediately.
